Critical Issues and Marketing Objectives for an Electric Bicycle
Bicycles have been around for over 200 years now, evolving with time since early 19th Century. The first bicycle was invented by a German scientist in 1817 that was commonly referred to as the Draisienneor the "Running Machine" that was propelled by walking as opposed to the modern day bicycle that is propelled by peddling. In the 1860s, a French inventor inventedThe Boneshaker, an improvement of the Running Machine that had a wooden frame with metallic tires. This was an uncomfortable bicycle due to its lack of shock absorbers. The bicycle revolution continued improving in the late 19th Century and the better part of the 20th Century with notable changes taking part on the introduction of peddles and a chain to propel the bicycle, the use of same-sized wheels, the introduction of rubber tires and the modification of the entire bicycle to come up with bikes for children in 1920s and mountain bikes in the 1980s (Minetti, et al. 2001).
