Exclusion rule In the last three decades, industrial and labour relations has changed in the United Kingdom and Wales after a series of court battles and trade unions negotiations which have culminated in the formulation of various laws. Also, the Supreme Court has made far-reaching decisions that have changed the labour relations in the country. In the recent case, Edwards v. Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust [2011], this landmark decision case affected employers working relationship with employees and pundits and legal scholars have termed this decision has a disaster in the industry of industrial relation in the United Kingdom . By dint of this ruling in Edward’s case which has mosaic colours of Johnson exclusion rule, employers enjoy wide latitude of sacking workers without attracting large sums of money in terms of damages and compensation in the event of sending them on compulsory leave pending investigation and due disciplinary process .
